Description:
We’re looking for a creative and culturally aware 3D Illustrator to join our children’s picture book project, Amina’s Journey to Jammu Province. This is a freelance hybrid role with flexible hours, ideal for someone who enjoys visual storytelling, character design, and bringing heritage stories to life.
🧩 A note from the Producer:
As the producer, I don’t come from an illustration or animation background. I just know what I like and care deeply about representing our story and community truthfully. That’s why this role isn’t just about delivering illustrations — it’s also about supporting the creative direction and helping shape the visual identity of the book with your professional insight. You'll be part of a team, not just a supplier.
Responsibilities:
Create 18–24 A5 digital illustrations for a children’s picture book
Design culturally sensitive characters, scenes, and motifs
Collaborate with the author/producer to help visualise and refine ideas
Deliver print-ready artwork (and potentially animation-ready assets)
What we’re looking for:
✅ Experience in digital illustration, 3D/mixed media, or children’s publishing
✅ Strong portfolio showing character and narrative design
✅ Excellent communication and collaborative skills
✅ Based in the UK, ideally North West (or able to meet in Manchester on occasion)
✅ Able to guide and support a non-technical producer in visual development
