Description:
Bruker is seeking an Algorithm Developer to work on the next generation of electron microscope imaging methods. The role focuses on transforming theoretical concepts into practical applications, developing technological advancements, and solving problems in computational imaging and electron microscopy. The candidate will collaborate with the UK software team and the Kirkland, Seattle electron microscope R&D team.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement theoretical concepts into practical algorithms for Bruker Nion electron microscopes.
Test and refine algorithms to ensure maximum performance.
Stay updated on scientific developments in electron microscopy, particularly computational imaging.
Formulate and communicate new algorithm concepts across teams and implement them collaboratively.
Develop a deep understanding of electron microscope imaging theory and operation.
Work with the Nion Swift software source code to embed algorithms within this environment.
Qualifications:
MSc or PhD in physical sciences or software engineering-related field with strong mathematics.
Experience in designing, implementing, optimising, and validating complex algorithms.
Familiarity with image reconstruction methods (e.g., phase retrieval, ptychography).
Programming knowledge: Python, Matlab, C#/C++ and/or GPU programming.
Strong independent working skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Clear communication skills for cross-department collaboration.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Desired Experience:
Knowledge of electron/conventional optics, charged particle physics, and solid-state physics.
Experience with software handling very large datasets.
Understanding of software performance optimisation.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid working model.
Based in Coventry, UK, with occasional visits to Bruker’s Kirkland, Seattle office.
