We are seeking a highly experienced Android Manual Tester to join our Quality Assurance team on a contract basis, focusing on manual testing of Android mobile applications. This role is hybrid, based in Central London with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote work weekly. The initial contract is for 3–6 months, with potential for extension, and falls outside IR35.

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of robust, user-friendly, and high-performance Android apps, primarily supporting Android security features. You will contribute throughout the testing lifecycle—from drafting detailed manual test plans and executing test cases, to collaborating with the engineering team for diagnostics and feedback. You will also assist in exploratory testing and continuous improvement of our testing strategies.

You’ll need to be technically adept with Android environments, experienced in accessibility and localization testing, and possess a proactive mindset toward test plan enhancements. The role also includes contributing to potential automation transitions where applicable.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Execute manual tests across various Android devices and OS versions

  • Prepare, maintain, and follow detailed test plans and cases

  • Conduct regular regression testing, functional testing, and pre-launch validation of new features

  • Run automated tests when provided and monitor their output for issues

  • Perform accessibility and localization testing according to defined plans

  • Routinely wipe and reprovision test devices (real and emulated) with specific builds and configurations

  • Communicate issues clearly and collaborate with developers for resolution

  • Log, track, and manage defects using Jira or similar tools

  • Provide feedback on usability, functionality, and test coverage

  • Participate in planning test strategies for new features with the Software Engineering team

  • Suggest and implement improvements to manual test coverage and test processes

  • Support occasional transition of manual tests to automated frameworks when feasible

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with APIs, push notifications, and mobile location-based features

  • Familiarity with mobile automation testing frameworks like Appium or Espresso

  • Understanding of Agile practices and continuous delivery pipelines
