As a Trade Surveillance Analyst – Energy/Commodities, you will play a vital role in monitoring and analysing trading activity to detect market abuse and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. You will support surveillance systems, manage incident resolution, and work closely with compliance, trading, and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor trading activity and carry out surveillance across front office and post-trade systems.
- Develop, maintain, and deploy PowerShell scripts to automate surveillance tasks and data extraction.
- Manage incident resolution and escalation in line with ITIL processes.
- Liaise with compliance, infrastructure, and service desk teams to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of surveillance processes, system changes, and incident reports.
- Oversee vendor upgrades and system implementations relating to trade surveillance.
- Support exchange reporting, compliance audits, and regulatory obligations.
- Assist with the onboarding of new surveillance systems and tools as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong experience in PowerShell scripting (essential).
- Sound knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems, with experience in SQL and Oracle databases.
- Background in financial services, particularly within energy or commodities trading environments.
- Familiarity with traded products such as futures, OTC energy trades, interest rate swaps, and fixed income instruments.
- Experience in trade surveillance, compliance monitoring, or risk management.
- Understanding of ITIL and change management procedures.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience in a regulated environment with knowledge of risk and compliance requirements is desirable.
