Application Support Specialist

To maintain this strategy, we’re now recruiting for 3 Application Support Specialists to assist on both the Core and Generation side of the business here at Drax.

About The Role

Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for driving and delivering the optimisation of applications and the services provided, maximising value.

It is vital to have hands on functional or technical experience working with one or more:

  • Global HR, Finance and Procurement Systems OR
  • Asset Management Systems, Plant Safety Systems and Processes, and Plant Maintenance and Monitoring Systems.
     

Responsibilities include:

  • Influencing system road maps for core applications and work with the broader IT team to provide practical, cost effective and maintainable solutions
  • Being aware of application interfaces and the impact of change
  • Working with key suppliers to influence their product development strategy
  • Knowing the content of new third-party releases and recommend the upgraded path and timeline
  • Managing contractual commitments around licensing and versions
  • Being the third-party contract owner in Service Reviews and Contract Renewals
  • Pre-testing system upgrades
  • Providing escalation assistance and backup for stream activity
  • Assisting in problem determination for major incidents
  • Working with business stakeholders, stream members and the Business Change Team to:
  • Providing advice on how to utilise the application without customisation
  • Knowing the business requirements and demands and help identify where changes in working practices could eliminate the need for application changes
  • Providing input to IT Service Support for Major Incident reporting
  • Explaining and expressing complex risks and issues and to develop appropriate mitigation measures
  • Providing enterprise reporting solutions
  • Managing the entire process from user requirement to delivery and guidance
  • Writing specifications for external contracts related to small systems changes or applications and to manage those external contracts.
