Application Support Specialist

Description:

An established Asset Manager is seeking a proactive Application Support Specialist to join their Front Office technology function. This role involves hands-on support of business-critical trading and investment systems, ensuring availability and reliability while collaborating closely with portfolio managers, traders, and tech teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide front-line support for core trading and investment platforms.

• Investigate and resolve real-time application issues to minimise disruption.

• Write and maintain Python scripts for automation and support tooling.

• Manage and query databases using SQL; maintain awareness of data flows and schemas.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, engineering, and front office teams to ensure robust system performance.

• Participate in platform upgrades, deployments, and change management processes.

• Ensure best practices in monitoring, incident management, and operational support.

Requirements / About You:

• Strong Python scripting skills (essential).

• Solid SQL knowledge for data investigation and reporting.

• Familiarity with AWS cloud-based environments.

• Deep understanding of the full trade lifecycle and investment operations.

• Background supporting mission-critical systems across Windows and Linux.

• Knowledge of market data platforms, messaging protocols (e.g., FIX), or API integrations is a plus.

• Clear communicator with strong stakeholder engagement and documentation skills.

• Experience working within ITIL frameworks and regulated environments.
