Apprentice Design Engineer

Description:

Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corporation, a leader in high voltage power solutions, is offering an Apprentice Design Engineer role as part of a learning programme. The apprentice will study for a BEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering through day release to university while working hands-on with experienced engineers. The first 12 months will involve familiarization with various business aspects before focusing on engineering-specific projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Study for a BEng degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering while working in the company

• Assist Project Engineers in designing and developing high voltage power supplies

• Perform verification and validation testing of designs

• Test prototype and pre-production units under guidance

• Create and maintain design and project documentation

• Design, develop, and commission test apparatus and equipment

• Complete workplace projects to meet qualification requirements

• Attend monitoring review meetings with a training officer

• Apply learning in the workplace, demonstrating gained knowledge and skills

• Work safely with high voltage power conversion products and associated equipment

• Adhere to company’s ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and Health and Safety management systems

Key Skills:

• Three A levels grade C and above (including Mathematics) or equivalent

• A methodical approach to problem-solving with analytical thinking skills

• Self-motivated and able to work well with others

• Computer literate with good verbal and written communication skills

• A keen interest in Engineering Design and Electronics

• Quick learner and logical thinker

• A valid UK driving licence (due to remote location)
