Assessment And Progression Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Academic Programmes Office in a new post focused on ensuring that the policies, systems and processes underpinning assessment and progression activities are efficient and effective.

 

Reporting to the Assessment and Progression Manager, the postholders will contribute to key assessment initiatives designed to assure the quality of assessment practices across the University and improve the student and staff experience. This will include the review of the University’s policies and regulations relating to assessment and progression, analysis of current position and best practice within the sector, and development of processes, support and guidance.

We are looking for experience of working with regulations, policies and processes, confidence in managing and manipulating data and effective communication skills, with ability to present complex information in a clear and accessible format to a wide group of stakeholders. This role would particularly suit those who work in an agile manner in a small team but who have the ability to lead on defined areas of responsibility.

 

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • To provide high level support to ensure that policies, processes and systems underpinning assessment and progression activities are operating in an efficient, effective way and are contributing to a high quality student experience.
  • To provide routine, first line advice on the application of University assessment and progression regulations and policies.
  • To contribute to the development and review of the University’s policies and regulations relating to assessment and progression and the transition into operational practice, including the creation of supporting information and guidance.
  • To lead on data quality activities within the Assessment and Progression team, identifying and resolving issues and taking forward measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • To work with colleagues across the Academic Programmes Office to ensure the effective use and management of curriculum and related data, and a consistent approach across teams.
  • To maintain a good understanding of University regulations, policies and practices; and an overview of the academic offer across the University, and to draw on these to inform the development of assessment policies, guidance and support for academic teams.
