Assistant Accountant

Description:

Ryland Automotive is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join a newly established centralised accounts team based in Bristol. The role supports the finance function of three Specialist Division Sites and is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the efficiency of the accounts team.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar accounting role, ideally within the motor trade industry, along with strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. This position requires a team player who can maintain attention to detail and deliver timely financial reports with accuracy and consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Divisional Accountant and act as deputy in their absence

• Manage the Accounts Assistants, ensuring deadlines are met and data quality is maintained

• Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts and audited annual accounts

• Oversee reconciled nominal, vehicle, sales, and purchase ledgers

• Manage the monthly demonstrator vehicle stock write-down process

• Regularly review vehicle sale profit reports to ensure accuracy

• Maintain accurate vehicle bonus and finance/insurance income accruals

• Supervise bank and vehicle funding reconciliations

• Collate and submit payroll data to the centralized payroll team

• Liaise effectively with internal teams, manufacturers, suppliers, customers, and auditors

Requirements:

• Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar financial role

• Preferably experience within the motor trade industry

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines

• Strong command of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems

• Good communication and leadership skills

• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and supervise others effectively
