Assistant Buyer

 

Description:

To process and expedite purchase orders with the aim of maintaining appropriate stock levels and to provide tactical and logistical support to Lead Buyer, in support of the Company's business plan, quality standards and operational objectives.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To create and process purchase orders on behalf of the department.
  • To expedite parts by telephone, email to ensure timely receipt of product.
  • Use weekly re-ordering system and reports to maintain sufficient stock levels and raise orders as required.
  • Consult with Lead Buyer on issues that could affect stock availability.
  • Build effective relationships with current suppliers.
  • Liaise with suppliers on prices and lead times.
  • Liaise with the Warehouse Manager to arrange product collection.
  • Liaise with Sales, Goods In, Accounts teams and suppliers to rectify delivery shortages and pricing/invoice queries and to meet special customer requirements.
  • Maintain alphabetic and numeric filing systems on a weekly basis.
  • Update price lists on company systems.
  • Liaise with Quality department on issues concerning samples and returns.
  • Carry out any other duties as required and as commensurate with role.
