Gallagher, a global leader in insurance brokerage, is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to support acquisition integration and project management within its UK operations. Based in Glasgow, this full-time role plays a pivotal part in delivering smooth transitions of newly acquired businesses into Gallagher’s Global Accounting Centre.
This opportunity is ideal for a qualified accountant currently working in a large audit firm, looking to step into a dynamic industry role where acquisitions, technical accounting, and project oversight are central to the function. The successful candidate will operate across divisions (Retail, Pen & Specialty), working with subject matter experts, senior leadership, and global finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
🌐 Due Diligence Activities
Prepare and present accounting due diligence reports
Review and assess financial information and risks of target companies
Conduct audits of balance sheets and present findings
Engage in calls with acquisition targets to understand their financial operations
Highlight risks and escalate issues to senior managers during the DD process
🔗 Acquisition Accounting & General Ledger Management
Set up business units for acquired entities, submit forms, and secure approvals
Prepare acquisition accounting documentation for submission to the US corporate team
Coordinate with SMEs to align month-end processes and financial reporting
Facilitate preparation and settlement of Completion Accounts
🧩 Integration Projects
Support integration of finance functions into the Global Accounting Centre
Create and maintain detailed project timelines and plans
Lead workshops with SMEs and finance teams of acquired businesses
Ensure accurate financial alignment across departments (Income, Accounts Payable, Treasury, etc.)
Track SOX compliance, conduct control gap analysis, and lead remediation
Align new entities with Gallagher’s Financial Policy Manual
Handle retention of records and legacy data systems
Regularly present updates and escalate concerns to leadership
About You:
Fully qualified accountant with a university degree or equivalent experience
Audit background, preferably in a large accounting firm
Skilled in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
Experience in US GAAP and SOX environments preferred
Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving
Effective communicator with the ability to manage multiple projects
Autonomous, adaptable, and proactive mindset
Must have the right to work in the UK
