Assistant Finance Officer

 

Description:

This role will be part of the Helpdesk and Support team, providing the single point of contact for cost centre managers and financial managers to raise financial and accounting enquiries and request support. The Help desk will cover all aspects of financial management including, cost centre management, banking, income, purchasing cards and payments. As Assistant Finance Officer you will be resolving queries either by phone, email or face to face including training as required; or, passing the enquiry through to the relevant centre of expertise team where it is complex or requires technical support.

You will also be supporting the wider Financial Systems and Support team with financial systems monitoring, administration and processing.

This post will operate flexibly across Finance, providing finance and accounting support for projects and other Finance Teams as priorities dictate.

  • Relevant experience in financial administration and accountancy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial management systems and procedures, including accounting, cost centre management, payments, income, and banking
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial control, financial risk management and corporate governance; including the regulatory framework that governs the operation of financial systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, confidence and the ability to negotiate.
