Assistant Shift Team Leader

Description:

BWSC is seeking an Assistant Shift Team Leader to join its operations team at the Brigg Renewable Energy Plant. This is a full-time, on-site role offering a significant opportunity for professionals with operations or maintenance experience, especially those from military, technical, or trade backgrounds.

In this role, you will report to the Shift Team Leader and be responsible for operating the plant safely and efficiently while maximizing availability and reliability. The position involves working both in the control room and on-site, handling routine inspections, plant adjustments, testing, and general defect rectification. You will support planned and reactive maintenance and ensure plant performance remains optimal. Safety, compliance, and continuous operational improvement are at the core of this role.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating the plant within safety and environmental limits in all situations (steady state, shutdown, emergency, etc.)

• Conducting routine inspections, plant data recording, and operational routines

• Handling defect rectification and first-line maintenance

• Performing housekeeping and plant cleaning activities

• Supporting the fuel handling team, especially during deliveries and by-product removal

• Participating in HV switching up to 33kV, with expected progression to Senior Authorised Person status

• Managing operational chemicals, ensuring safe handling and receipt

• Maintaining detailed and accurate shift logs, using the Maintenance Management System

• Assisting with health, safety, and environmental policy compliance and procedure development

• Supporting operational activities during planned outages (may require daytime work shifts)

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

• Strong observation, attention to detail, and communication skills

• Experience with chemical handling, equipment operation, and maintenance

• Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

• Basic IT skills for logs and data entry

• Capability to perform under pressure

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in EFW, CHP, Biomass, or similar renewable energy operations

• Background in gasification, trades, or engineering

• Military technical roles are also valued

Work Schedule:

• Full-time, 40 hours/week

• 24/7 12-hour shift rota with annual leave incorporated

• Occasional national travel required
