Double Eleven is seeking an Associate Lead Programmer to join their award-winning game development team in Middlesbrough, UK. This role involves leading a skilled programming team, developing robust systems, optimizing performance, ensuring high code quality, and collaborating closely with designers, artists, and other disciplines. The Associate Lead Programmer serves as a technical point of contact with clients, presenting solutions and managing project expectations.

Double Eleven is known for delivering major titles, including Minecraft Dungeons, Rust Console Edition, and collaborations with Rockstar Games and Obsidian Entertainment. The company offers a flexible work culture, avoids crunch, and provides support for UK relocation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and implement high-quality systems and gameplay code.

  • Conduct code reviews to maintain technical standards and improve team-wide code quality.

  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and publishing teams to deliver high-quality titles.

  • Lead and mentor a small team of programmers, supporting professional development.

  • Work closely with production to define project roadmaps and deliver milestones on schedule.

  • Participate in client meetings as a technical point of contact.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Excellent knowledge and practical expertise in C++ programming.

  • Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine.

  • Proven experience as an Associate Lead or Senior Programmer with leadership readiness.

  • Strong background in code optimization and performance improvement.

  • Exceptional communication skills in English for cross-disciplinary collaboration.

  • Ability to mentor a small programming team and maintain high technical standards.

  • Skilled at breaking down complex projects into achievable tasks to meet deadlines.
