Babyzone Operations Officer

Description:

Babyzone is a dynamic and inclusive charity dedicated to supporting parents with children aged 0–5 years by removing barriers to early years provision. Babyzone sites provide families with access to soft play and evidence-based early years classes in a clean, safe, and welcoming space. The service is open to all, without sign-ups, fees, or personal data requirements, ensuring a fully accessible and inclusive environment where families can talk, sing, read, and play together. Babyzone Blackburn and Wigan aim to welcome over 180 families weekly, building strong community connections.

As a Babyzone Operations Officer, you will be the face of Babyzone for families, ensuring smooth operations throughout the day. You will manage the physical setup and pack-down of Babyzone, support external class leaders, oversee soft play and exploratory areas, and welcome families as they arrive. This role involves a mix of practical, operational, and engagement duties—requiring energy, empathy, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and pack away Babyzone each Friday, including furniture movement, safe layout preparation, and hazard checks.

  • Support class leaders by transporting and arranging equipment from the storage container.

  • Oversee exploratory and soft play areas, ensuring safety, tidiness, and compliance with rules (no food or shoes).

  • Maintain additional spaces such as book corners, buggy parking, and baby-changing areas.

  • Personally welcome each family, engaging warmly and helping build a supportive community atmosphere.

  • Collect simple family data (postcode entry) into digital forms for attendance monitoring.

  • Act as the first point of contact and problem solver for families and class leaders, ensuring smooth daily operations.

  • Welcome external stakeholders and partners to Babyzone.

  • Champion Babyzone’s ethos of accessibility, inclusion, and family support.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Babyzone Wigan, sharing feedback and best practice.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with families and young children.

  • Commitment to Babyzone’s mission, principles, and inclusive values.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage positively with diverse families.

  • Energetic, proactive, and calm under pressure, with a team-oriented mindset.

  • Physically capable of moving furniture and supporting quick setup/close-down.

  • Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

What Babyzone Offers:

  • Comprehensive safeguarding training and a DBS check.

  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
