Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse

Imperial College London is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse to join Professor Chris Chiu’s research group within the Section of Adult Infectious Diseases. This role involves working on a diverse portfolio of studies aimed at understanding how to protect people against respiratory viral infections, including influenza, RSV, and coronaviruses.

As part of a world-leading research team, you will play a crucial role in Controlled Human Infection (CHI) Studies, which involve the deliberate infection of healthy volunteers to better understand disease progression and develop more effective vaccines and treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

🩺 Clinical Research & Participant Recruitment
✔ Recruit, screen, and enrol volunteers into cutting-edge research studies.
✔ Educate participants on study procedures and ensure adherence to study protocols.

🔬 Medical & Clinical Procedures
✔ Assist with virus inoculation and monitor participants during inpatient stays.
✔ Perform phlebotomy, nasal sampling, ECGs, spirometry, and assist with bronchoscopy procedures.

📋 Data Collection & Compliance
✔ Accurately collect and input clinical data into electronic and paper-based databases.
✔ Maintain high standards of infection control and adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

📞 Team Collaboration & On-Call Support
✔ Work closely with senior research nurses and clinicians to ensure smooth study operations.
✔ Hold the on-call study phone during inpatient quarantines (as per rota).

What We’re Looking For:

🎓 Qualifications & Skills
✔ Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with valid NMC registration.
✔ Experience in clinical research or patient care preferred.
✔ Strong ability to educate and communicate effectively with participants.
✔ Commitment to infection control procedures and patient safety.
