Description:

North London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivated Community Occupational Therapist (Band 6) to join its Haringey community mental health team. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with complex and substantial mental health needs by delivering therapeutic interventions that enhance daily living skills, foster recovery, and promote independence within the community.

As part of a small, supportive team, you will play an essential role in developing and implementing occupational therapy services across Haringey’s community mental health services. You will receive regular supervision, continuous professional development opportunities, and support from experienced leaders and multidisciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments and provide time-limited, goal-focused interventions tailored to each service user.

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate treatment programs to ensure effective, person-centered care and safe discharge planning.

  • Work collaboratively with the Team Lead, Therapy Lead, and community teams to establish occupational therapy-specific roles within mental health services.

  • Provide support for individuals transitioning to or adjusting to new accommodation post-hospital admission, with the goal of reducing hospital readmissions.

  • Supervise junior staff members when required.

  • Apply a strengths-based, recovery-focused approach to enhance participation in meaningful activities and daily living skills.

  • Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) in all care provisions.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Strong understanding of community mental health care and rehabilitation principles.
