Breaks Development Manager

 

Description:

The Breaks Development Manager is an inspirational and strategic leader, responsible for the proactive management of Go Beyond breaks and activities for other users of our facilities. The aim is to deliver and manage a safe, sustainable, high quality and inspiring framework for our breaks, along with wider strategic charity involvement. You will collaborate with colleagues and local partner organisations to grow our programme delivery across the year, particularly championing the use of the outdoor environment to achieve our stated aims. You will sometimes be required to join the breaks delivery team directly, stepping in to provide cover for absent staff or for staff assessment purposes along with deputising for the Director for Children as required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To effectively lead, motivate, manage, develop and inspire your team to deliver the best possible breaks to children and young people.
  • Ensure go beyond delivers the maximum positive impact for our young people, with positive feedback from children and young people, and referral agent satisfaction.
  • Ensure that our weekly breaks are well planned in relation to the young person’s referral criteria and needs.
  • Ensure staff are well trained, the rotas well planned and our facilities are well used.
  • Manage a safety framework to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people, staff and volunteers whilst on break.
  • Work collaboratively and in unison with the Breaks Team Leader to ensure cover for the breaks team as necessary, e.g.: for annual leave and illness.
  • Be a responsible role model for Go Beyond, treating everyone with understanding, care, and positive enthusiasm for the work we do.
  • Proactively take on the role of Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DSL), conforming to the Go Beyond Safeguarding Policy.
  • Ensure regular 1-2-1 meetings and appraisals with designated staff to support and develop them.
  • Take the lead for short, medium and long term planning of activities, staffing and resources to achieve the relevant criteria in the Go Beyond Strategic Plan.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with the Centre Manager to input into the facilities aspect of the breaks, including equipment, now and for future developments.
  • Manage your budget effectively, maximising opportunities to achieve best value for the charity, providing accurate reporting, and liaising with the finance team.
  • Develop and maintain external partnerships, while negotiating to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Action the due diligence process with our external activity providers / partners and keep records up to date.
  • Complete behavioural, incident and safeguarding reports as required.
  • Analyse and report on all aspects of your centre’s breaks in line with wider charity needs.
  • Work alongside the Referral Coordinators to discuss referrals and the young person’s needs in order to aid the forward planning for every break.
  • Work collaboratively across all departments to drive positive outcomes for the charity.
  • Participate and complete any necessary training.
  • Attend staff meetings, hold debriefs and discussions as required.
  • Undertake, oversee or delegate other non-specific tasks/responsibilities deemed necessary to ensure the smooth, legal and efficient running of the breaks.
