Description:
The Governors of St Nicholas CE Primary School, part of the London Diocesan Board for Schools, are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School Business Manager to join their dedicated leadership team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to significantly contribute to the school’s operational excellence and long-term sustainability, ensuring that staff are fully supported in delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
As the School Business Manager, you will lead on all aspects of finance, HR, premises management, health and safety, and administration, working closely with the Headteacher and Governors. You will play an integral part in shaping strategic decisions and driving efficiency across the school, ensuring that resources are managed effectively for the benefit of every pupil.
Financial Management:
Oversee all aspects of the school’s financial operations, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
Provide detailed and accurate financial information to the Headteacher and Governors to support decision-making.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and maintain transparency in financial records.
Resource and Procurement Management:
Manage the school’s procurement process to ensure best value and cost efficiency.
Oversee IT and resource management to ensure optimal functionality and sustainability.
Premises and Health & Safety:
Ensure that school buildings and grounds are well-maintained and compliant with health, safety, and statutory inspection requirements.
Oversee premises staff and external contractors to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
Human Resources and Payroll:
Support the HR Manager in delivering effective staff management and welfare processes.
Oversee staff attendance recording and ensure accurate payroll reporting.
Leadership and Administration:
Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to strategic planning and operational improvement.
Line manage administrative and premises teams, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Support policy development and implementation across administrative and operational areas.
Efficiency and Innovation:
Identify opportunities to improve school operations through cost-effective and innovative practices.
Contribute to developing long-term sustainability strategies and ensuring financial resilience.
A recognized accountancy or business qualification.
Significant experience in financial and resource management, ideally within education.
Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of budgetary control, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, parents, and governors.
A proactive approach to innovation and continuous improvement.
