Description:
Birmingham City Council is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Support Officer to join its Business Improvement and Support team. This role sits within the Executive Support team, which provides critical support to the City Operations Directorate covering five divisions: Community Safety and Resilience, Highways and Infrastructure, Neighbourhoods, Regulation and Enforcement, and Street Scene.
The Business Support Officer will play an integral role in ensuring smooth governance, compliance, and operational efficiency by supporting key activities such as Committee Reports, Audits, Business Planning, Business Continuity, and Forward Planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-level administrative and executive support to the team.
Manage and coordinate schedules, diaries, meetings, and appointments.
Prepare, review, and distribute professional correspondence, reports, and presentations.
Assist with the planning and coordination of projects, events, and governance activities.
Maintain accurate records, filing systems, and documentation for compliance.
Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication.
Support governance processes by taking minutes, compiling reports, and maintaining oversight of action plans.
Undertake any additional duties to support the delivery of business continuity and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Demonstrable experience in an administrative or business support capacity.
Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
Flexible, proactive, and solution-oriented approach.
