Description:

Pace Recruitment is representing a newly established and ambitious residential developer seeking an experienced Buyer or Senior Buyer to join their growing team in Royston. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking company that is committed to delivering high-quality new build housing projects ranging from 50 to 100 units across the region.

The Buyer will play a central role in overseeing procurement for plant, materials, and supplies while collaborating closely with commercial, technical, accounts, and construction teams to ensure smooth project delivery. The position is office-based with some flexibility and offers significant scope for career growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage procurement of plant and materials for new residential developments.

  • Issue accurate purchase orders and supplier enquiries using internal systems.

  • Track requisitions against buying schedules and proactively report delays or issues.

  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve any procurement or site issues.

  • Liaise with commercial, technical, accounts, and construction teams to align procurement activity with project timelines.

  • Compile monthly reports including CVRs, budget reviews, cost comparisons, replacement orders, waste management, and procurement summaries.

  • Support compliance checks, procurement data maintenance, and invoice reconciliation.

  • Contribute to strategic procurement initiatives such as bulk buying and supply chain engagement.

  • Issue drawings to suppliers, request quotations, and negotiate for the best price.

  • Manage rebate administration processes where appropriate.

  • Handle invoice/order queries, raise office and marketing orders, and manage customer care orders/tracker.

  • Conduct monthly site visits to ensure procurement processes are aligned with on-site requirements.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Qualification in procurement, construction, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 5 years’ proven buying experience in the new build housing sector.

  • Strong knowledge of UK construction materials, suppliers, and procurement practices.

  • Competent in MS Office Suite and COINS with confidence in using procurement platforms.

  • Commercially aware with excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proactive problem-solving approach.

  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative team.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • High attention to detail and strong numerical and analytical skills.


Additional Information

  • Competitive salary package ranging between £45K – £70K per year (£3750 – £5833 per month) depending on experience.
