Description:
The University of Birmingham is seeking enthusiastic Student Experience Ambassadors to join the College of Social Sciences (CoSS). This role provides current undergraduate students with the opportunity to directly support student experience initiatives, enhance the academic and social environment within the College, and contribute to Equality, Diversity & Belonging (EDB) activities.
As a Student Experience Ambassador, you will act as a representative of the University and the College, working to welcome new students, support events, and ensure inclusive engagement across the student community. Ambassadors will undergo training in September, including EDB awareness, and will play a critical role during Welcome Week.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Welcome Week activities, including Arrivals Weekend stalls, team-building events, leading campus tours, and delivering presentations or participating in student panels.
Assisting with the organisation, delivery, and promotion of student experience events throughout the year, ensuring inclusivity and active participation.
Creating and contributing to student communications, such as newsletters and social media content.
Promoting and facilitating student feedback mechanisms, including national surveys, and collating academic feedback.
Assisting with the design and execution of awareness campaigns for cultural and EDB-related events (e.g., Lunar New Year, Diwali, awareness months).
Contributing to curriculum development initiatives, such as decolonisation projects, and representing student voices in School-level EDB committees.
Engaging with and responding professionally to student queries during events, on social media, and at information stalls.
Person Specification:
Must be a current undergraduate student in the College of Social Sciences (applications from other disciplines will not be considered).
Enthusiastic about the University, College, and area of study.
Good knowledge (or willingness to learn) about the University, campus, and student support services.
Strong communication skills, with confidence in both written and verbal English.
Professional, reliable, punctual, and organised.
Ability to act independently, use initiative, and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
Customer service skills, with the ability to remain calm and approachable under pressure.
Understanding and awareness of issues faced by marginalised or minoritised groups; willingness to listen and learn.
Confidence to appear on camera and engage in social media content creation (desirable).
Creative problem-solving and event organisation skills.
Additional Information:
Grade: 2
Contract: Casual, 25/09/2025 – 24/12/2025
Hourly Rate: £13.07 plus holiday entitlement

Students are restricted to working up to 20 hours per week during term time.
