Description:

Good Samaritan Society, a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of service in senior housing and healthcare, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join their Davenport, IA center. As a CNA, you will play a key role in providing compassionate, resident-centered care within a Christian environment dedicated to quality service and long-term care excellence.

The CNA will serve as a caregiver to residents, delivering age-appropriate care and assistance with daily living activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Core responsibilities include:

  • Assisting residents with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, repositioning, transferring, and walking using safe techniques and equipment.

  • Obtaining and recording vital signs, collecting non-invasive body fluid specimens, and monitoring resident conditions.

  • Supporting psychosocial and emotional well-being by fostering a caring, respectful, and engaging environment.

  • Assisting with meal preparation, dining services, hydration, and supplements to promote resident nutrition.

  • Providing range-of-motion exercises, passive activities, and recreational engagement.

  • Supporting infection control practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintaining clean and operational living spaces through light housekeeping and laundry services.

  • Documenting resident interactions, care outcomes, and reporting changes in condition to the charge nurse.

  • Aiding providers and nursing staff during medical procedures when needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

  • CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing required, or must obtain within four months through training or endorsement. Facility provides CNA training and certification.

  • Completion of yearly competency testing and at least 12 hours of continuing education annually.

  • Must maintain all required certifications and may need to register with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry (state-specific).

  • Some roles may require valid driver’s license and compliance with Sanford Driving Policy.
