IC Resources is representing a world-leading technology developer, headquartered at their advanced R&D centre in Cambridge, in the search for a high-calibre Chief Architect – CPU and OS Architectures. This is a rare opportunity to take a senior leadership role in shaping the future of mobile operating systems and CPU performance architecture at the intersection of hardware and software innovation.

The Chief Architect will lead the OS Performance Group, driving forward the development, optimisation, and performance of a next-generation wireless/mobile operating system. Working alongside a team of highly qualified engineers and researchers, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in defining architecture strategies, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and cutting-edge performance across mobile platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for OS and CPU architecture design, simulation, and performance optimisation.

• Lead system-level architectural decisions for wireless/mobile operating systems.

• Collaborate closely with both hardware and software teams to integrate CPU microarchitecture and OS design.

• Guide and mentor highly skilled engineers and researchers across CPU and OS domains.

• Drive innovation in operating system performance, simulation, and scalability.

• Engage with stakeholders across the business to ensure alignment with strategic product and technology goals.

Requirements:

• Degree, Master’s, or PhD in microelectronics, software development, computer architecture, or related fields.

• Strong expertise in CPU microarchitecture or similar CPU emulation platforms (e.g., gem5 or equivalent).

• Proven track record in OS performance optimisation and simulation.

• Extensive experience with mobile OS architecture (iOS, Android, Tizen, Symbian, etc.) or deep knowledge of mobile chipsets.

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead complex architecture projects across cross-functional teams.
