Description:
Psicon Ltd, a specialist clinical organisation with a commitment to trust, integrity, kindness, and clinical excellence, is seeking a dedicated Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join their growing Independent Clinician Network based in Basingstoke. This role offers flexible hybrid working with the requirement to travel to the Basingstoke clinic to carry out in-person autism and ADHD assessments for children and young people aged 3–18 years.
The psychiatrist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive developmental histories, autism and ADHD assessments, and direct clinical observations, ensuring all interactions are conducted with compassion and age-appropriate communication. Responsibilities include reviewing collateral information from schools and families, formulating accurate diagnoses, and delivering feedback sensitively to children, young people, and their families. The psychiatrist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide holistic assessments, with follow-up sessions arranged when required. High-quality, detailed diagnostic reports must be produced within 48 hours of assessment, in line with DSM-5 criteria and Psicon’s templates, with full administrative support provided for formatting and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct developmental history and structured clinical interviews for autism and ADHD assessments.
Carry out observations and ensure compassionate, age-appropriate questioning.
Review ADOS reports, school and home information, and integrate findings into diagnostic decisions.
Formulate diagnoses, provide recommendations, and signpost families to appropriate local/national resources.
Collaborate with the MDT in joint/planned clinics and follow up cases requiring further review.
Produce accurate diagnostic reports within 48 hours of assessments.
Request onward referrals where clinically indicated in line with NHS Trust/ICB protocols.
Requirements:
GMC-registered doctor with valid licence to practice.
CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred (not essential).
Strong expertise in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD assessments for children and young people.
Up-to-date with revalidation and appraisal processes.
Able to travel to Basingstoke clinic as required.
