Key responsibilities:

A Civil and Structural Technician is required to join our award-winning Building Structures Team. They will be responsible for the production and checking of civil and structural engineering drawings, 3-dimensional building models, reinforcement schedules and specifications for buildings and associated civil engineering works.

Within the role, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Producing and checking drawings, design models, schedules and specifications within a quality assurance environment
  • Check and coordinate civil and structural design information with other technical disciplines
  • Occasionally be required to visit sites, to carry out surveys and inspections
  • Occasionally be required to visit other Kier, consultant and client offices to attend meetings

What we need from you?

Essential:

  • HNC or BTEC or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, Building or Construction (i.e. an approved qualification set at level 3 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework for England, Northern Ireland or Wales; or at level 6 in Scotland; or the equivalent or an Advanced/Modern Apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • City and Guilds or equivalent 2D or 3D ‘AutoCAD’ qualification
  • Experience of operating ‘Autodesk Revit’ and ‘Navisworks’ software producing building models
  • Experience of operating ‘AutoCAD’ software, producing building structures drawings
  • Knowledge of construction techniques to current British and European Standards
  • Knowledge of the CDM Regulations
  • A commitment to Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

  • Awareness of sustainable civil and structural engineering design practices
  • Basic experience of NBS Building or Create software for specification writing or clause editing
  • Experience of carrying out site surveys or building inspections
  • Awareness of underground drainage, earthworks and paving construction details
  • Working towards Engineering Technician grade membership - TIStructE or EngTech MICE
