Description:
We are seeking to appoint a committed and effective Classroom Teacher to join John Rankin School. The role involves planning and delivering high-quality lessons, leading a tutor group and contributing to curriculum development so that all students make strong progress, achieve high academic standards and learn in a safe, purposeful and ambitious environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver highly effective lessons in line with the Trust’s Learning and Teaching Framework and Schemes of Work
- Secure strong progress and attainment for all students, including disadvantaged students, those with SEND and the most able
- Use assessment effectively to inform teaching, close gaps and support student progress
- Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning and create a safe, positive classroom environment
- Contribute to tutor provision, supporting student wellbeing, attendance and personal development
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers to support student outcomes
- Implement Trust policies consistently, including safeguarding, behaviour, assessment and reporting
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities, including trips and extra-curricular activities
The ideal candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
- Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and effective teaching practice
- Has high expectations for all students and a commitment to inclusive practice
- Is skilled in behaviour management and creating a positive learning environment
- Uses assessment effectively to support progress and inform teaching
- Communicates clearly and builds positive professional relationships
- Is organised, reflective and committed to ongoing professional development
- Is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school and the Trust
