James Andrews Recruitment Solutions Ltd is partnering with a leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancy to recruit a skilled Clerk of Works for a permanent, full-time position based in London with a flexible hybrid working arrangement. The role offers a competitive salary and an opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and timely delivery of residential and new build projects.

The successful candidate will monitor and inspect ongoing construction works, ensuring compliance with specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements. This position requires strong communication and reporting skills, as you will regularly liaise with project managers, principal contractors, and other stakeholders to address discrepancies, delays, and quality concerns.

This role is well-suited for professionals with a strong background in site inspections, risk management, and construction quality control, particularly within the residential and new build sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and inspect all ongoing works, including those of subcontractors, for compliance with specifications.

• Inform the Project Manager and Principal Contractor in writing regarding any non-compliance in workmanship or materials.

• Maintain a detailed weekly diary of progress, delays, unsatisfactory materials/workmanship, visitors, and weather conditions.

• Record occurrences or situations likely to cause delays and communicate promptly with the Project Manager.

• Submit queries regarding drawings and specifications and highlight discrepancies between documents and measured items.

• Attend sites as required and provide full service in line with building contract requirements.

• Prepare reports according to the specific scope of services.

Required Experience & Skills:

• Proven experience in new build and residential construction projects.

• Membership of the Institute of Clerk of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) or willingness to obtain it.

• Strong understanding of risk assessment and management.

• Knowledge of quality and safety standards in construction.

• Ability to monitor project progress to ensure timely delivery within budget.

• Full UK driving license required.
