Description:

Paragon Referrals, a purpose-built diplomate-led veterinary referral hospital located in Wakefield, is seeking a Client Accounts Billing Clerk to join their customer accounts team. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to work within a modern, multidisciplinary environment that strives for clinical excellence and outstanding client service.

The role involves managing various aspects of the financial journey for clients, including insurance, billing, payments, and debt management, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, empathy, accuracy, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent client service throughout the financial journey—billing, payments, insurance, and debt management.

  • Collaborate effectively with all departments to ensure seamless clinical and client experience.

  • Perform accurate billing for procedures and surgeries; provide financial updates and engage with clients using tools like the ‘Pet Postcard’ service.

  • Resolve low-level client complaints professionally and prevent escalation.

  • Support front-of-house services, including booking consults and procedures and managing referrals.

  • Adhere to GDPR regulations and internal policy processes.

  • Maintain and reconcile invoices, handle inboxes, and utilise practice management systems effectively.

Growth & Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify areas to improve client account services and suggest process improvements.

  • Ensure time is used effectively to prevent debt generation and enhance financial workflows.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Background in customer care or client-facing financial services.

  • Experience working in a skilled, multidisciplinary team.

  • Veterinary industry or referral experience preferred.

  • Proven ability to manage client complaints at a basic level.

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Understanding of GDPR and its application in client data management.

  • Insight into the veterinary referral process and insurance claim workflows.

Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (Grade C or above) or equivalent in English and Maths.

  • Certifications in customer service (e.g., BVRA bronze/silver/gold) preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving with a proactive mindset.

  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.

  • Capable of working under pressure and as part of a collaborative team.
