DAC Beachcroft, an award-winning international legal business and market leader in insurance and health law, is seeking an experienced Solicitor/Associate – Clinical Risk to join its Leeds office. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious legal professional to handle a complex, high-value caseload of defendant clinical negligence work, representing esteemed clients such as NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts, MDU, independent healthcare providers, and medical malpractice insurers.
The role is ideal for a passionate lawyer with strong technical expertise, excellent client care skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a leading Clinical Risk team that operates nationally across the UK.
Manage and progress a challenging caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims on behalf of a diverse range of healthcare clients.
Draft and review complex legal documentation including defences, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
Conduct negotiations and mediations to achieve commercially effective claim resolutions.
Prepare cases for litigation, ensuring compliance with procedural and court deadlines.
Maintain high standards of client communication, serving as the primary point of contact and providing strategic legal advice aligned with client objectives and protocols.
Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership by participating in training sessions, seminars, and publications both internally and externally.
Engage in business development and knowledge-sharing activities within the Clinical Risk and wider DAC Beachcroft network.
Qualified Solicitor or Associate with proven experience in clinical negligence, personal injury, civil litigation, or insurance law.
Previous experience with NHS Resolution or Medical Defence Organisation (MDO) panel work is advantageous but not essential.
Strong technical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently using IT case management systems.
Pragmatic, commercially minded approach to legal issues, focusing on practical outcomes rather than theoretical interpretations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of developing trusted relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
Team-oriented with a willingness to mentor and supervise junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
