NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Clinical Support Nurse to join its dedicated team responsible for making critical decisions on the suitability of donated tissues and organs. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in life-saving and life-changing decisions that directly impact patients and their families.
In this role, you will serve as the recognized clinical expert responsible for reviewing and authorizing both live and deceased donor files, ensuring every donation meets the highest clinical and ethical standards. You will support two vital NHSBT programmes:
Autologous and Allogenic Serum Eye Drops, and
Live Surgical Bone Programme.
Your expertise will ensure the timely management of donor file authorizations, including time-sensitive ocular files, while maintaining NHSBT’s commitment to quality, safety, and compassion.
Lead the clinical review and sign-off of live and deceased donor files.
Ensure clinical suitability for tissue donation within defined ethical and procedural frameworks.
Provide expert clinical support for the Autologous and Allogenic Serum Eye Drops and Live Surgical Bone programmes.
Manage time-critical donor file decisions, including ocular donations requiring rapid authorization.
Demonstrate clinical accountability in determining the suitability of donated tissue for transplantation and research.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high standards of care and governance.
Contribute to service development, audits, and training initiatives.
Work flexibly, including travel across regions and occasional overnight stays with prior notice.
