Cloud Engineer

As an engineer in one of the Cloud teams, you’ll get to work across a wide range of systems and environments. As a team, we’re responsible for designing, building, and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS and/or Azure. We're investing constantly invest in our Cloud Platform so our application teams can build scalable, secure, and resilient systems, capable of supporting millions of transactions for UK Citizens.

At DVLA you will get to work with a lot of exciting new technology, we get to trial multiple products and choose the best. These are some of the tools and technologies you will be using:

• EKS and AWS lambda (nodejs): to run our services.
• Orgformation: to manage our AWS landing zone.
• Instana: to monitor everything.
• ArgoCD: to deploy our applications.
• Azure EntraID: for our identities.
• Elastic: to ship our logs.
• Cloudformation/Terraform: for all of our Infrastructure code.
• Pagerduty: to alert.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

• Developing code to meet user needs.
• Following best-practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines.
• Writing clean, secure and well tested code.
• Coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues.
• Operating the services they build and identifying issues in production.
