The Grants and Contracts team within Research and Knowledge Exchange Services (RKES) provides first-line operational support in the pre-award application and contract award/negotiation process for externally funded Research and Knowledge Exchange (KE) activity. In order to support our continuing growth in Research and KE income, the University seeks to appoint a motivated and experienced individual with commercial funding expertise to join the funding team within Grants and Contracts. The Commercial Funding Manager will be expected to be familiar with the commercial funding of research and consultancy work and have experience of working with the needs and expectations of large and small enterprises. You will play a key managerial role within the Grants and Contracts team and the role is expected to be fundamental to managing processes to meet the planned growth in commercial research and consultancy income. The Commercial Funding Manager will support processes and practices for our academic community, ensuring best practice, maximising efficiencies, transparency, quality standards and financial efficiency/sustainability. You will be expected to have a hands-on approach providing expertise, advice and guidance to staff based on a working knowledge of milestone/spend profiling; quotation preparation; tendering procedures; pricing strategies and framework agreements.
