The Role

The Communications and Engagement Apprentice will work as part of the Select Committee Communications Team which includes media relations, public engagement, digital and graphic design professionals. Over the course of your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to work closely with three professional teams within SCT Communications; during your time with each you will gain the different skills and experiences needed to support the communications of select committee work, including developing effective communications plans; planning, measuring and evaluating communications and engagement activities; and creating content.

Successful candidates will be enrolled on the Level 4 Public Relations and Communication apprenticeship and will complete training for 20% of their time, including from an apprenticeship training provider. Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

• Contribute to the maintenance of the overall planning calendar of committee communications, helping to bring together different sources of information, supporting planning meetings for communications teams, and sharing the calendar with colleagues;
• Support the monitoring of national, regional and trade media (print, broadcast, digital, social), summarise and circulate coverage and assist with evaluation;
• Any other reasonable duties appropriate to post and grade, as agreed with your line manager.
