Communications Officer

Description:

In October 2023, we will be launching our West Midlands based Environmental Leadership Programme (ELP) in partnership with UpRising. We are seeking a dynamic Communications Officer to join our project team. This role will work closely with staff from both SWT and UpRising to support the creation of a movement of young people taking climate action.

Over the next four years we will support c. 400 young people aged 18 to 25 from underrepresented and underserved communities across the West Midlands to build a stronger connection to nature and understand how this drives behaviour change. Participants will be supported to identify, co-create, and deliver nature engagement campaigns and activities that they believe will make the most difference in their local communities. They will all leave the programme ready to apply their experiences to the next steps in their leadership journeys.

The Communications Officer will be responsible for the communications, media, content creation and marketing of the ELP. They will share stories as creative and engaging content on specific communication channels (website, press, social media and any other) but also support participants to share their own stories and campaigns through the same channels. They will be fully involved in the development and planning of all face-to-face and online sessions to enable maximum impact for communications. They will use the ELP to mobilise a network of other young people across the country to undertake their own nature connection campaigns and develop mechanisms for building a sense of community amongst them.
