Compliance Officer

Description:

Barleycorn is recruiting a Compliance Officer for their specialist Motor Insurance client. This role is critical for ensuring all business activities comply with FCA regulations and relevant laws. The officer will enhance internal processes and evaluate risk management effectiveness to protect the business and add value.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor adherence to FCA rules and regulations operationally.

• Oversee the Compliance Monitoring Programme ensuring regulated activities meet deadlines and standards.

• Provide timely and detailed compliance advice/approval to business functions, maintaining records.

• Identify and resolve potential compliance and risk issues.

• Regularly review products, services, and marketing materials for compliance.

• Ensure all staff comply with firm procedures and FCA selling practice requirements.

• Manage operational controls to mitigate conduct risk.

• Maintain regulatory policies and procedures aligned with compliance requirements.

• Provide compliance reports and management information (MI) to senior management.

• Cascade compliance updates throughout operational teams, including training coverage.

• Conduct periodic compliance and thematic reviews, including outsourced suppliers.

• Record/manage non-compliance incidents and notify relevant authorities.

• Perform risk assessments on operational business functions.

• Ensure compliance controls over sub-brokers and appointed representatives.

• Stay current with FCA and regulatory developments to maintain competency.

• Identify and implement operational efficiency improvements.

• Deliver compliance projects on time with full documentation and senior leadership approval.

• Build strong internal and external working relationships.

• Promote a culture of compliance and risk awareness across the organization.

Key Role Requirements:

• Proven compliance experience within the Insurance industry is essential.

• Detailed knowledge of FCA regulations related to insurance products.

• Ability to support and influence colleagues regarding compliance and risk responsibilities.

• Experience working in high-performing teams, with a track record of implementing improvements.

• Tenacity in investigating concerns across business functions.

• Strong legal/regulatory interpretation and advisory skills, including reporting.

• Ability to build trust and maintain open communication with stakeholders.

• Able to work independently, take initiative, and multitask effectively.

• Excellent oral/written communication, presentation, and project management skills.

• Adapt communication style to suit different stakeholder needs.
