Consultant Psychiatrist

Elysium Healthcare is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist (Part-Time) to join Chadwick Lodge, a 113-bedded mental health service providing secure, acute, and DBT wards for men and women across different security levels. This role offers the opportunity to manage complex psychiatric cases while being part of a supportive, established, and forward-thinking healthcare organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading patient treatment plans, supervising junior medical staff, and ensuring high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care. You will manage a caseload of approximately 15 patients, potentially across multiple wards, ensuring their treatment needs are met effectively and safely. The role involves both clinical and leadership responsibilities, with opportunities for professional growth and continuous development through excellent CPD resources.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

• Participate in ward rounds, morning handovers, and CPA reviews.

• Assess new referrals and oversee diagnosis, investigations, and treatment planning.

• Lead implementation of risk assessment and management procedures.

• Engage in clinical audits, governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Provide supervision, appraisal, and guidance to junior medical staff.

• Liaise with external agencies and stakeholders to support patient care and progression.

• Participate in the regional second-tier on-call rota (approximately 1:6 pro-rata).

Requirements:

• Full GMC registration.

• MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.

• Registered on the Specialty Register for Forensic Psychiatry or General Psychiatry with forensic experience.

• Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician (AC) approval.

• Demonstrated ability to lead within multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong commitment to CPD, with recent appraisal history aligned to the Royal College of Psychiatrists standards.
