St Andrew’s Healthcare invites qualified psychiatrists to join its renowned mental health charity as a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead a new Male Medium Secure ward in Northampton. Whether you're an experienced consultant or approaching CCT within six months, this role offers the opportunity to work in one of the UK’s most comprehensive and progressive secure mental healthcare environments.

It provides a secure and supportive clinical environment led by 8 Psychiatry Directors and 30+ Consultant Psychiatrists, fostering a dynamic and medically engaged culture.

The Northampton site, spread over 150 acres, includes diverse services ranging from Low Secure, PICU, CAMHS, LD, Autism, Neuropsychiatry, to Forensic care, as well as academic and research centres. The facility features a patient-run café, ceramics & woodwork studios, garden centre, gym, swimming pool, and extensive wellbeing spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the Responsible Clinician for a Male Medium Secure unit

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to ensure delivery of high-quality care and treatment

• Oversee care plans and clinical strategies tailored to secure care pathways

• Drive continuous improvement and service development

• Engage in regional and national leadership roles, teaching, and research opportunities

• Influence and shape the future of secure mental health provision in the UK

Who Should Apply:

• GMC registration with MRCPsych (or equivalent)

• CCT in Forensic Psychiatry, General Adult Psychiatry, or Old Age Psychiatry

• Exceptional clinical leadership and communication skills
