As a Palo Alto Networks Consulting Engineer (CE), you will be an expert in specific technology domains. You will be able to discuss the market dynamics and go in depth in any of our offerings into those technology spaces. We are looking for a Private Cloud and Public Cloud expert. You will deep dive in our Next Generation Firewall technology and its integration into Private Clouds and Public Clouds. This includes hardware firewalls as well as software firewalls (VM-series and CN-Series).
You are the “go to” resource for customer interactions that exceed standard Systems Engineering support requirements (we always expect a baseline expertise in all areas from our Systems Engineers but augment them with CE’s in the advanced or new technology areas).
The Consulting Engineering role is an overlay technical role that must directly support sales delivery of quota. CE’s are measured by their expertise and by their ability to lead to customer successes. As the number of CE’s in the company is small, there is also a requirement for close interaction with Product Management to ensure that we continue to out-innovate our competition.

- Present to customers as our expert in your technical domain at all levels in the customer hierarchy from technician to CIO
- Lead conversations about industry trends and emerging changes to the security landscape that every customer needs to be aware of
- Discuss, with credibility, competitive offers in the marketplace and position ours as the best alternative
- Lead and support customer demonstrations, with our System Engineers, that showcase our unique value
- Interact locally and remotely with customers in an equally persuasive manner
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide design consultation and best practice guidance for architecture and implementation during the 'pre sales' process for strategic opportunities
- Provide product update and enhancement training to other SEs in the region or theater
- Provide demos for strategic prospects and current accounts in all facets of Palo Alto Networks integration in Data Centers with a traditional design or a virtualized design and in the Public Cloud
- Assist in the training of new Palo Alto Networks SEs in their designated region in installs customer presentations, and internally-focused deal preparation activities
- Provide advanced 'Partner SE' training for updates in the Palo Alto Networks product suite
- Working with Product Management, Technical Marketing and R&D to create requirements and product features for our large customers and provide feedback from customers
Qualifications
Your Experience
- Proven experience in design, architecture and consulting, gained in a technology company
- Proven ability to engage effectively with clients, partners and internal sales teams
- Good understanding of the infrastructure of several SDN solutions with experience installing and configuring such environments (VMware, Cisco, Nutanix, KVM)
- Good understanding of the infrastructure of at least 2 of the main Public Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure or GCP) with experience installing and configuring such environments
- Working experience in containerised environments
- Programming experience, ideally in Ansible, Terraform, Python and good knowledge of APIs
- Experience that emphasizes L2-L4 Networking
- Demonstrable experience in securing these environments
- Experience understanding threat signatures and their creation is preferred
