Choose Love is a fast paced, agile and ambitious organisation which supports displaced communities globally.


Sharing displaced people’s stories, highlighting the work of our partners, and running fundraising campaigns is at the core of what we do.


We’re looking for an energetic, creative and passionate content creator, with skills and experience in making engaging videos and high quality social media content to join our small but wide-reaching team.

You don’t necessarily need to have experience working in social media in the charity sector. You do need to love social media, and have initiative, vision, and technical experience in making reels, videos, and engaging posts. The perfect candidate will also have great writing skills, be good at juggling competing priorities and enjoy working as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities:

Content creation:


Create high-quality, engaging, and original content for various channels, including reels for Instagram and TikTok, carousels, posts and tweets
Write engaging copy to accompany reels, posts and images


Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers, and other team members to produce visually appealing and shareable content


Work with our programmes team to understand and represent the vital work of our 270 grassroots partners, who are the beating heart of Choose Love.


Create content for brand collaborations and partnerships, including generating sales for CL merch and products


Ensure brand consistency across all content by adhering to brand guidelines and maintaining a cohesive tone and style.


Create reactive advocacy posts responding to UK, European and US asylum policy where appropriate


Promote and highlight the Choose Love Shop, both for the winter campaign and during key moments of the year.


Post social media content on all channels, including scheduling content for weekends and holidays


Increase income through social media donations:


Work with Head of Comms to create strategy for increasing revenue through social media channels


Analyse content performance using tools such as Google Analytics and social media insights to optimise engagement which translates to income.


Work with digital team to ensure correct tracking is set up for fundraising campaigns


Lead on audience analytics to inform overarching social media strategy and ensure analytics and learnings are integrated into content planning from month to month
Monitor key metrics on a weekly and monthly basis.


Monitor channels daily and contribute to weekend cover


Check all Choose Love channels daily, working with key colleagues to respond to enquiries, re-sharing relevant stories and escalating anything of note to Head of Comms and Executive Leadership Team as required


Work with the wider team on out of hours rota as and when required to cover reactive posts and stories.


Social Media Management:


Execute our social media strategy, working with the Head of Comms to ensure all posts maximise engagement and donations


Foster community engagement by responding to comments, messages, and interacting with followers across various social media platforms.


Support with creation of social media marketing and advertising where needed


Stay Updated on Industry Trends and Cultural moments :


Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices and apply them to our content where appropriate.


Optimise engagement by staying updated with cultural moments and keeping content relevant and innovative

Essential Criteria :


Passion for, and extensive experience of creating content for social media platforms and staying up-to-date with industry trends and innovations.


Experience of creating content relevant to key cultural moments


Knowledge and experience of how popular culture can drive social change


Experience creating viral content for Instagram and other social media channels


Demonstrable experience of driving donations through social media platforms


Experience of creating content that increases social media followers


In-depth knowledge of Instagram and Tiktok’s features, trends, and best practices


Strong understanding of social media analytics and tracking tools.


Proficiency in content creation and design tools, such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar.


Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to create compelling and engaging content.


Highly creative, with a keen eye for visual aesthetics and attention to detail.


Demonstrable ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.


Excellent listening skills with the ability to absorb feedback and work effectively as part of a team


Desirable Criteria:


Knowledge of social media advertising


Working knowledge and understanding of issues that refugees, asylum seekers and displaced people face
