Contract Software Engineer

Description:

Noir Consulting is seeking 2 highly skilled Contract TypeScript Engineers with expertise in NextJs, React, and modern JavaScript technologies to join the web development team of one of the world’s most admired retailers. With a global presence of over 10,000 outlets across 20 countries and revenues approaching £200 billion, the organization is embarking on the development of a next-generation ecommerce platform set to transform the industry.

In this role, you will be a key contributor in designing and developing scalable, high-performance web applications using TypeScript, NextJs, and React. You will work on critical features for a new ecommerce system, ensuring high-quality, clean code while adhering to best practices and coding standards. The role requires strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently under tight deadlines while collaborating effectively within the development team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, and maintain web applications using TypeScript, NextJs, and React.

• Collaborate with team members to design and deliver clean, efficient, and scalable solutions.

• Work with SQL/NoSQL databases and ensure smooth integration with backend services.

• Utilize React Hooks, REST APIs, GraphQL, SCSS, CSS for dynamic UI and efficient data handling.

• Apply TDD, unit testing, and clean coding principles to ensure code quality and maintainability.

• Review peer code, share feedback, and promote best development practices.

• Use tools such as Docker and GIT, working within Agile methodologies.

• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Proven expertise in TypeScript, NextJs, React, and JavaScript.

• Hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL databases.

• Proficiency in React Hooks, REST, GraphQL, CSS/SCSS.

• Strong understanding of unit testing, TDD, and clean coding practices.

• Familiarity with Docker, GIT, and Agile environments.

• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and contribute to high-level design discussions.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Contract Details:

• Duration: Initial 6 months (high likelihood of extension).

• Rate: £400 – £450 per day, outside IR35.

• Location: Hybrid role, London-based.
