Contractor Management Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contractor Management Lead – H&S to join a well-established Facilities Management organisation operating within a science and research environment in Surrey. The role is perfect for a skilled H&S professional who thrives in fast-paced, multidisciplinary settings and is passionate about leading safe working practices through strong procedural governance.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the Contractor Management Office, maintaining compliance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and ensuring contractors meet all regulatory requirements. You will work closely with site teams, clients, and health and safety professionals to uphold and elevate safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Contractor Management Office

• Ensure full compliance with SSOW and all site-specific safety regulations

• Review and approve Site Authority to Work documents and Permits to Work

• Audit contractor documentation and verify adherence to RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements)

• Address and resolve client safety queries with confidence and professionalism

• Offer expert guidance on SSOW and best practices

• Identify and implement process improvements to elevate safety and operational efficiency

Requirements:

• Valid NEBOSH Certificate

• Solid experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably within facilities or technical environments

• Experience supervising or managing a small team in a permit office or SSOW environment

• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to coach, develop, and improve team performance
