Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Worcestershire Mental Health Liaison team as part of a 12-month pilot project. This role is central to introducing psychology services within the liaison team, enhancing complex case work, staff support, and team cohesion. The post aligns with the trust’s focus on trauma-informed care and compassionate leadership.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Duties:

    • Conduct specialist psychological assessments, develop formulations, and provide interventions, including group work.
    • Offer reflective practice, supervision, and consultations for multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Evaluate and treat psychological difficulties across a spectrum of complexity.
  2. Service Development:

    • Promote trauma-informed environments and co-produced psychological care.
    • Contribute to service improvement aligned with national and local priorities.
  3. Team Collaboration:

    • Work with team leaders to enhance service quality.
    • Support a compassionate, empowering, and value-driven team culture.
  4. Professional Development:

    • Participate in clinical and managerial supervision.
    • Engage in CPD opportunities and professional specialty meetings.
  5. Training and Research:

    • Supervise and train other health and care staff.
    • Maintain connections with academic institutions like Coventry & Warwick Clinical Psychology Training Course.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Education:

    • BSc/BA Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above).
    • Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
    • Registration with the HCPC and eligibility as a Chartered Psychologist with the BPS.
  2. Experience:

    • Experience in various psychological specialties and complex case management.
    • Proven ability to conduct clinically relevant research and deliver evidence-based interventions.
  3. Skills:

    • Advanced communication skills to handle complex and sensitive information.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Other Requirements:

    • Ability to travel as needed.
    • Compliance with NHS registration and disclosure checks.
