Bridgwater and Taunton College invites applications for the position of Course Leader - Electrical Engineering to join their award-winning education team. The College has a strong partnership network with regional and national employers such as EDF, Ministry of Defence (MoD), and National Grid, placing the Course Leader at the forefront of supporting industry workforce development. You will play a critical role in preparing learners for careers in engineering, helping them to maximize their potential and ensuring their readiness for future employment or career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery and management of Electrical Engineering courses, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.

  • Collaborate with employers and industry partners to align curriculum with workforce needs.

  • Support learners throughout their studies to achieve academic success and career readiness.

  • Work within a growing team during an exciting time of investment in new facilities, including the £15 million National College for Nuclear and the Energy Skills Centre.

  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the curriculum and learning environments.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff and learners.

  • Ensure compliance with education standards and contribute to the College’s quality assurance processes.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience or knowledge in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, gained through industry practice or education.

  • Experience in the education sector is advantageous but not essential; comprehensive training and support will be provided.

  • Strong commitment to teamwork, learner success, and delivering impact within educational and professional settings.

  • Motivated to support learners’ progression and career journeys.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Enthusiasm for working in a hybrid environment combining on-site and remote work.

Future Organizational Change:

From August 2025, Bridgwater and Taunton College plans to merge with Strode College to form the UCS College Group (University Centre Somerset College Group). New employees starting after July 31, 2025, will be employed under this new group.
