Description:
Murray Hall Community Trust is recruiting Creative Therapists/Counsellors to join their growing pool of therapeutic intervention specialists. The role focuses on providing one-to-one and group creative therapy sessions for children, young people, and adults requiring emotional wellbeing support (Tier 2). The therapist will tailor interventions to the individual’s needs while supporting parents and carers to embed coping strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver one-to-one or group creative therapy sessions across multiple modalities, including play therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and family therapy
Work with parents/carers towards the end of interventions to improve communication and relationship building
Liaise with service coordinators on client needs and referral issues, with well-being reviews at week 4
Follow NICE guidelines for assessment and therapy delivery
Maintain accurate clinical case notes, both hard copy and via the Outcome Star system
Evaluate therapy interventions and produce written reports with recommendations for further support
Engage in clinical supervision to reflect on casework and receive guidance
Support the compilation of monitoring reports and maintain confidentiality according to internal guidelines
Attend relevant meetings, mandatory training, and induction courses
Provide blended intervention approaches (face-to-face and remote sessions)
Adhere to the British Association of Counselling and Therapists (BACP) code of ethics and standards
Skills, Knowledge & Understanding:
Essential:
Knowledge of emotional wellbeing and safeguarding procedures
Understanding of CAHMS referrals and interventions
Ability to manage complex caseloads and work under pressure
Familiarity with BACP code of ethics and data protection/record keeping
Desirable:
Knowledge of child development and local demographics
Familiarity with frameworks such as Every Child Matters and Keeping Children Safe in Education
Experience:
Essential:
Experience working with children and young people aged 5–18 years
Experience working with statutory and voluntary organisations delivering therapeutic services
Desirable:
Artistic abilities, creativity, imagination, and enthusiasm
Experience facilitating one-to-one therapy and parent-involved sessions
Report writing and programme evaluation experience
Qualifications:
Essential:
Minimum Level 4 qualification in counselling/therapy with at least 100 hours clinical experience
Membership of a recognised professional counselling body (e.g., BACP, NCS, UK Council for Psychotherapy)
Desirable:
Level 5 counselling qualification
