An opportunity has arisen at The Bowes Museum for the appointment of a Curator of Fashion & Textiles, on the retirement of the current post-holder.

John Bowes and his French wife, Joséphine Bowes, created the Museum and Park, which opened to the public in 1892, to house their collection of fine and decorative arts of European origin, including textiles. In recent years fashion and textiles have become some of the most popular areas of the Museum, due to a cutting-edge gallery in 2010 followed by a number of successful fashion exhibitions.

You will have experience of working with dress and textile collections, and of delivering high quality exhibitions and collections displays to bring to the opportunity of redisplaying the Fashion and Textile gallery. You will be a practical and well-organised person, able to meet the exciting challenges of this role, working with one of the best and most varied textile and dress collections in the UK.
