Curry & Tandoor Chef

 

Description:

Papa J’s is looking for a Curry & Tandoor Chef specializing in Indo-Chinese and South Indian cuisine. The chef will be responsible for:

  • Cooking & Preparation: Preparing traditional Indian curries, tandoori dishes, Indo-Chinese favourites (e.g., chili paneer, hakka noodles), and South Indian dishes (e.g., dosas, idlis, sambhar).

  • Station Management: Managing prep and cooking stations to maintain the highest quality, taste, and presentation.

  • Tandoor Operations: Operating and maintaining traditional tandoor ovens for naan, kebabs, and tandoori meats/vegetables.

  • Collaboration: Working with the Head Chef and kitchen team on menu innovation and specials.

  • Portion Control & Ingredient Use: Ensuring consistent portion control and proper use of ingredients.

  • Hygiene Standards: Following food hygiene and health & safety standards.

  • Training: Training junior kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Curry/Tandoor Chef in a busy kitchen.

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Indo-Chinese and South Indian cuisine.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent understanding of spices, cooking techniques, and regional flavour profiles.

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic, with a team player mindset.

  • Food hygiene certification is preferred.
