Description:
Responsible for the handling of complex and non-complex data protection requests, advising on a range of data protection matters and ensuring data protection compliance within B&Q.
Please note we will be reviweing applcations and organising interviews across January.
What's the job?
- Providing tailored responses to data requests and/or data complaints and resolving Data Subject concerns on complex matters including, where required, engagement with other teams/stakeholders to resolve and manage customer needs.
- Working independently on day-to-day caseload, carrying out investigations with relevant business stakeholders and resolving any specific problems that arise.
- Proactively working with the stakeholders to identify key trends and supporting the Senior Data Protection
- Responsible for the management of B&Q’s Data Protection mailbox including appropriate allocation to team members, this includes assessing risk and complexity of request using expertise in Data Protection law.
- Ensuring deadlines are met and workload is prioritised in the right way.
- Liaising with Data Subjects and their representatives on complex data requests and complaints.
- Managing instruction of external expert legal advice. Interpreting and implementing the legal advice and being prepared to challenge where necessary. Managing external legal spend.
- Supporting with DPIAs.
- Manager in implementing and driving change.
- Ensuring follow-up actions on regulatory and complaint matters are completed, working with relevant stakeholders across all functions as appropriate.
- Leading on Regulatory matters and liaising with the Regulator where required.
- Responsible for advising stakeholders and independently making decisions on legal risk on a range of data breaches. Notifying key stakeholders where required and taking the appropriate steps.
- Responsible for regularly monitoring data numbers and running reports.
- Identifying any key trends within the reporting to make improvements to our policies and processes and general data protection compliance.
- Mentoring and developing the Data Protection Assistants, to build their skills, this may include occasional travel to Europe.
- Identifying issues within our policies and processes and managing legal risk or leading on related projects accordingly.
What we need:
- Relevant legal data protection experience/knowledge
- Experience in dealing with contentious consumer matters including communicating with customers (both written and verbal)
- Experience in dealing with high volume caseloads
- Organisation, accuracy and eye for detail
- High quality drafting skills
- Commercial awareness and pragmatism
