Description:

A global financial services organization is looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join its highly skilled Database Services team, supporting business-critical clearing systems. This role focuses on the design, administration, optimization, and support of Postgres, Oracle, and MS SQL databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance within a regulated and mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize production, non-production, and DR database environments.
  • Proactively monitor performance, availability, and capacity across global systems.
  • Handle installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and backup/recovery of databases.
  • Lead the planning and execution of HA and DR testing.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, development, and architecture teams to support business initiatives.
  • Contribute to system documentation, automation scripts, and runbooks.
  • Provide database support and best practices to development teams.


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Expert-level Postgres (Enterprise or Community Edition).
  • Experience with large-scale, high-throughput systems (multi-TB).
  • Proficiency with Red Hat/Linux, Postgres clustering, replication, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with pgBackRest, logical/physical backups, and partitioning.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, AWK, SED).
  • Understanding of Linux networking, file systems (NFS/GPFS), and OS-level diagnostics.
  • Exposure to global monitoring solutions and automation tools.


Desirable (Bonus) Skills

  • Oracle database and Exadata/ODA system experience.
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) administration and patching.
  • Experience with engineered systems, automation, and SQL optimization.
  • Familiarity with high-compliance environments (e.g., financial services).
