Description:

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), a global university with a strong reputation for teaching, research, and innovation, is seeking a dedicated Database Officer to join its Development team. This role is central to managing the Raiser’s Edge database, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and effectiveness to support alumni engagement, fundraising, and donor relations.

The Database Officer will be instrumental in maintaining accurate records, supporting development activities, and producing insightful reports that drive philanthropic initiatives and alumni engagement. The postholder will play a key part in enabling meaningful connections with graduates, donors, and supporters while safeguarding data integrity and compliance with data protection and fundraising standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the Raiser’s Edge database, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.

  • Oversee data imports, including graduate data from student record systems.

  • Prepare datasets for alumni engagement activities and the Graduate Outcomes Survey mailouts.

  • Produce accurate and insightful reports to support fundraising, donor stewardship, and alumni communications.

  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, data protection legislation, and fundraising standards.

  • Support the financial processes related to donations and awards.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across development, alumni engagement, and wider university services to deliver effective and reliable database support.

Requirements:

  • Degree, part-qualified professional qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Experience and proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM systems.

  • Strong understanding of data management principles and practices.

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to present complex data clearly.

  • Confidence in handling large datasets, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams with a customer-focused approach.

  • Knowledge of compliance requirements in data protection and fundraising.
